Jane Norman studied at the Guildhall School of Music, following her degree with a post-graduate diploma in Early Music and subsequently violin lessons with Mica Comberti. At an early age Jane was introduced to the music of Bach and Purcell by her father; she has a particular love for music of the baroque era and has toured worldwide with such groups as the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, The Sixteen and The Kings Consort and made many recordings with these and other groups.

She plays principal viola with the Feinstein Ensemble, co-principle second violin for the St James's Baroque Players and first violin with Devon Baroque. She also plays regularly with The King's Consort, Canzona and The Orchestra of The Sixteen.

Jane also enjoys teaching people of all ages and since moving to Somerset she has planned and led music workshops at Greenfylde First School in Ilminster and taught class music lessons at Buckland St Mary and Combe St Nicholas schools. She currently also teaches violin and piano at home; her youngest pupil is currently five years old, and her oldest is ninety, which just goes to prove that it's never to late to learn!
